Over the past few months, we have posted several updates on the status of Kevin Durant’s new film. The plot, from what we knew, concerned Durant swapping his talents with those of a high school also-ran, sort of like that one part of “Space Jam” blown up to a feature film with a considerably smaller budget. It can’t miss!

Now, we have even more information on what’s sure to be the best film of whichever year it hits theaters. Here are more details from Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman (via Marcel Mutoni):

Durant will be filming scenes for “Thunderstruck” in Oklahoma City in the next few days, including a session that is scheduled to be shot inside Chesapeake Energy Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 23. The studio’s original plan was to shoot footage at a preseason game, but the lockout-shortened season limited the Thunder to only one preseason home game as each team dealt with a rushed start to the season. It’s possible that filmmakers will shoot action at the Jan. 23 home game against Detroit and/or the Jan. 25 home game against New Orleans.

The bulk of filming was done in Baton Rouge, La. back in September. But prior to the movie being completed, certain shots that can only be produced in Oklahoma City must be captured. The movie has been granted license from the NBA to use the Thunder’s name and logo and other league property, meaning real game footage will be used and Durant will be seen in his Thunder jersey, possibly with teammates and Thunder coach Scott Brooks making cameos.

So, if you see Durant missing lots of shots against the Pistons or Hornets, do not be alarmed. He’s an artist who really gets into his characters. It’s called Method acting, and it’s totally legitimate.

The real story here, of course, is the title, which is pretty much perfect for a lighthearted family film of this sort. Not only is it a great pun on Durant’s team, but it’ll also allow for a nice moment in the trailer (and climax) when the AC/DC song plays and everyone gets pumped for some intense basketball action. Or, if the studio wants to save some money, we’ll hear a legally sound copy of the hard rock classic. It’ll be just as awesome, I’m sure.

Video: Watch the end of Thursday’s Thunder/Mavericks clutch-fest

Spoiler alert: Oklahoma City beat Dallas 104-102 on Thursday night, and Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, and Vince Carter were prominently involved. No complaining, because you had time to get out of the way following my “alert,” assuming you were unaware of Thursday’s outcome.

Of course, were this the case, you won’t mind that I ruined the outcome of this contest, because of the video you’re about to click the big “play” button on, posted below. In an NBA that is currently featuring a litany of teams just trying to catch their breath and learn the plays, these two gave us a classic. With a suitable ending.

Watch the last ten seconds of this killer, uninterrupted, as it unfolds:

Fantastic. Time to catch up, other 28 teams.

Kevin Durant fans crowd the streets as he gives away free sneakers

The scene didn’t quite compare to the chaos that decked the halls as Nike introduced a re-release of an Air Jordan sneaker from 15 years ago, thankfully, but that didn’t stop the Oklahoma City area from being snarled in traffic jams on Friday as Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant gave away pairs of his own brand of shoes.

The roads were no doubt already clogged due to the preponderance of holiday shoppers working with just two days left before Christmas, but after Durant announced to his 1.1 million Twitter followers that he would be giving away free pairs, the roads jammed with fans hoping to nab a pair of his copper Nikes that he’ll showcase on Sunday’s season opener against the Orlando Magic.

One of the Tweets looked like this:

And the shoe looks like this:

And the traffic looked like this (probably):

And I still don’t get it. But Merry Christmas, everyone.
